What Shaped My Perspective

I spent years overperforming, waiting to feel ready, and trying to prove myself in systems where I did not always feel I belonged.

As a Black Latina, U.S. Air Force veteran, and disabled veteran, I understand what it means to carry responsibility while navigating institutions that were not built with every part of your experience in mind.

Those experiences shaped how I understand leadership, belonging, service, and the pressure people often carry when they care deeply about their work.

Over time, I realized something that continues to guide my work today.

People do not experience leadership, change, or the workplace in the same way. Culture, identity, relationships, community, lived experience, and a sense of belonging influence how we see ourselves, how we communicate, how we respond to challenge, and what we believe is possible.

That realization changed the questions I ask.

Why CREID Was Created

CREID was created because we wanted to build a different kind of leadership practice.

One that recognizes leadership is not shaped by individual effort alone, but by the conditions surrounding the people doing the work.

Too often, we ask people to work harder, become more resilient, or develop another leadership skill before taking the time to understand what is influencing the situation in the first place.

CREID takes a different approach.

We begin by understanding the people, the relationships, the culture, the systems, and the conditions shaping the work. From there, we help leaders and organizations determine what needs to change, strengthen what is already working, and build solutions they can own.

That is what Creating the Conditions to Lead Well means.

How We Approach the Work

Our work is shaped by four ideas that show up across every engagement.

Readiness & Adaptability
We look at what people and teams need in order to respond well when expectations, roles, or conditions change. Readiness is not about having every answer in advance. It is about being able to assess what is happening, adapt, and respond with intention.

Systems & Strategy
We look beyond the immediate problem to understand the larger conditions influencing it. That means connecting patterns, priorities, relationships, and organizational realities before deciding what needs to change.

Community & Co-Design
We believe the people closest to the work hold knowledge that matters. We create the structure for that knowledge to surface, make sense of it together, and translate it into decisions and strategies people can actually own.

Coaching & Facilitation
We do not position ourselves as the source of every answer. We use questions, reflection, and structured conversation to help people see what they may be missing, strengthen their judgment, and determine what the situation requires next.
